SA Presentation Desk Compass

Flag_of_the_NSDAP_(1920–1945).svgThis is a presentation compass for a member of the Sturmabteilung (SA). Marked “Alles Für Deutschland” and “725” on rear. It’s also spurious. Why do I say that? Because the cardinals are in English, not German. A German compass should have an O for “Ost” not an E for “East”. Good thing it was cheap.

    I see you have a modern german shooting bdge w/ an ” R ”
reminds me of my personal mystery of the R. the horse riding badge,
I have one in brz. and always thought the R was for ” ritter” but have never, never seen any evidence that I’m right. can you solve this riddle? thanx jim. again, congrats and thanx for your site, amazing

    • Hi Jim. In the case of the Equestrian Badge the R stands for Reichsverband. This means “Reich Association”. It was dropped after 1950 once they realised Reich was a loaded word. Cheers, Geof
