Death Card for Heinrich Resch in 1941

Flag_of_the_NSDAP_(1920–1945).svgThis is an example of a German Memorial Death Card. Because of the fact that casualties were buried in the theatre there was no funeral to be had back home. Instead, German Catholic families would hold a memorial service and these cards would be distributed to family and friends. This card is to Heinrich Resch from Zweisel. He was a jäger in a Gebirgsjäger regiment, by the location of his grave and death date probably 4th Gebirgsjäger Division. He was killed in the east on the 17th of November 1941. He was born at Innenreid on the 25th of September 1922 making him 19 when he died. He is interred at Dinnitzjewka (Denysivka), which is somewhere near Stalino in the Ukraine.
