This is a Pilot’s Watch from World War 1 manufactured by Etienne & Co. It is marked with the War Department arrow on the rear of the case. This is a RFC watch dating to about 1915 or 1916. These watches were intended to be mounted in the dash of the aircraft and removed by the pilot when he returned from flight.
This is a waterproof case for a U-Boat torpedo timer or pocket watch. It’s missing the lining inside but is otherwise in great condition. This came out of an antique store in Barrie, Ontario. Someone commented that this is definitely a reproduction. I am now certain that this is a fantasy piece. There is a NSRL/DRL type eagle attached rather than a KM one as you would expect.
