This scope was designed for the G/K43 series semi-automatic rifles as well as the MP43/44/45 series assault rifle. A late war design, it was not very robust or very popular. The mounts for these are stupidly expensive so I won’t be going down that path right away. The left side of the scope is marked “Gw ZF 4”, “dow” the code for Opticotechna, Czechoslovakia. There is a triangle stamped and coloured for the type of grease applied to the internals. In this case it is blue meaning cold weather.
These scopes were blued like this one originally. Later war production was parkerised. The optics on this scope are muddy at one end. I have another example to use as a donor so if Don the optics guy can’t clean them up I will be getting him to swap them out.
Update: The scope came back from Don and he has done an outstanding job. Complete, clear optics and functioning as designed.
